The Biological Science Technician will work in collaboration with National Park Service staff to assist with a wide variety of tasks, including, but not limited to, invasive plant removal; mapping of invasive plants, rare plants, and rangelands; monitoring of rangelands, dune and other restoration projects, rare plant populations, and water quality; native plant propagation; and field oversight of volunteer and paid crews.  The Technician will remove invasives using manual, mechanical, and chemical means and will assist with keeping related tools in good working order. The Technician will collect data and navigate to locations using GPS (either Trimble unit or mobile device using ArcGIS collector); use ArcGIS to produce graphics and maps of collected and other data; enter and validate data in Excel or Access databases; produce written reports and memorandums, as needed; and perform other duties as assigned.  The Technician will assist with oversight of contractor crews performing invasive plant treatment, fence and rangeland management practice installation, and other projects. The Technician may also assist with park compliance efforts by conducting pre- and post-project surveys/monitoring for rare plants and wetland vegetation.
