Summary of Duties

The incumbent will establish and lead an integrated and collaborative research and Extension program in irrigated agriculture that serves the needs of clientele in central Washington production areas. The successful candidate must acquire competitive extramural funding, disseminate information by publishing results in appropriate peer-reviewed journals and Extension media, mentor and supervise graduate students, and assist with CSS course delivery as needed by the department

Monthly Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
Required Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. degree in Weed Science or a closely-related discipline with a research emphasis on weed control and management by the time of hire

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences using oral and written forms.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in field research with a variety of crops, including ability to conduct efficient and effective field experiments (plot establishment, maintenance, data collection, and analysis)

Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work effectively with individuals and groups of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies

Record of competitive grant success commensurate with career level

Record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and Extension media commensurate with career level

Demonstrated ability to lead and participate/collaborate in interdisciplinary research programs

Experience supervising support staff and students

Demonstrated ability to organize and lead interdisciplinary Extension programs

Demonstrated evidence of teaching and/or student mentoring
