2012 WSWS Research Progress Reports available

The 2012 Western Society of Weed Science recently published its annual Research Progress Reports.  The full set of progress reports are available online at: http://www.wsweedscience.org/Secure/editor/ResearchReports_Archive.asp

These reports generally present data on early-stage and may discuss unregistered herbicides so I should reprint the WSWS disclaimer that "The 2012 Research Progress Progress Report of the Western Society of Weed Science (WSWS) is a compilation of research investigations contributed by weed scientists in the western United States of America. The objective of the Research Progress Report is to provide an avenue for presentation and exchange of on-going research to the weed science community. The information in this report is preliminary; therefore, it is not for the development of endorsements or recommendations."

That being said, there is a lot of information that is relevent to California weed managers working in the three main WSWS research areas: Weeds of Range and Forestry (9 reports), Weeds of Horticultural Crops (11 reports), and Weeds of Agronomic Crops (22 reports).

Of particular interest to me (since I co-wrote them...), are the five reports on 2011 California tree and vine projects.
- Weed control with penoxsulam/oxyfluorfen (Pindar GT) for season long weed control in almonds.--page 20
- Almond residual herbicide comparison 2010-11.--page 22
- Walnut and almond residual herbicide comparison.--page 24
- Effect of drift control nozzles and carrier volumes on hairy fleabane control with glufosinate.--page 35
- Postemergence control of hairy fleabane and redroot pigweed in ochards.--page 36

The WSWS Research Progress Reports are available at http://www.wsweedscience.org/Secure/editor/ResearchReports_Archive.asp  Click on the year to get the full report as a PDF.

Happy reading.
